Just too many to choose from!
El Nido, Boracay, Coron, Batanes, Bohol,Cebu. Some of the famous Island destinations that form the Philippine Archipelago. A nation known to have 7,107 individually unique islands. A fact that has been recognized for so long.
That’s 7,107 too many to explore.
However, recent studies showed that there’s actually a lot more. The Philippine Islands Measurements Project, a special project conducted by the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), showed that there are 7,641 islands in the country. Thanks to new technology and high definition data, all previously undetected islands were finally seen. Of course, some of the newly detected ones are due to changing land forms.
So what does this new development mean?
Geographically, it means bigger territory and increased economic zone.
For the tourism industry, additional islands mean increased land area and longer coastal lines which translate to added beaches and landscapes to enjoy.
If you have 7,107 choices before, now you have 534 islands more.
